Policy
The Dog House Rescue adheres very closely with certain policies and procedures which are listed and briefly explained below.
Adoptions
We reserve the right to accept or refuse an adoption application from anyone based on predetermined criteria that exist in our adoption forms.We will always accept an animal back that we have adopted to you but our adoption fees for cats and dogs are non-refundable. In most cases much more than what we charge for the adoption fee has been spent on the animals we adopt out. We want you to be able to take home a healthy animal at a reasonable adoption fee, please understand our fees are non-negotiable.
We will answer as many questions as best we can but we don't have all the answers, most of us are volunteers. Please make sure to do your own research to make sure the animal you choose is the right one for you and your family.
We check with leasing offices/landlords on anyone who is in a rental or leasing agreement. Many of our animals have already lost their home once or more and we want to make sure that their next stop is a home they can be in forever. For the animals's sake, we want to make sure they go to a home environment that is accepting of them emotionally and legally. Please check with your leasing office and find out weight restrictions and pet fees. We do not adopt to anyone who cannot legally or monetarily allow the animal into their apartment complex, condo, etc...
Approved Applications
If paying with credit card the payment must be made via Paypal and a Receipt must bust brought to adoptions.
We accept Cash and Check. We will accept Credit Card or Check Card Payments through Paypal. You do not have to have an account to use it. A small service charge is added to cover the transaction fees approximately 3%+.30. Please be sure and add this in when figuring how much the adoption will cost.You must have a valid GA Driver's License to adopt.
Home Inspections are a mandatory part of our adoption process, the animals we have are in our care because of where they came from and that's why we need to see where they are going!
Intakes/Relinquishments
We reserve the right to accept or refuse an Intake application from anyone based on predetermined criteria that exist in our adoption forms.Intakes are also accepted/denied in part due to the current amount of space available. We are a small organization, we only have a limited amount of space available at any given time.
You must have a valid GA Driver's License to Relinquish an animal.
A $35 minimum donation (per animal) is required for all relinquished animals. Please keep in mind we are dedicated to finding the animal a permanent home. No cost is spared in doing so and all medical expenses and veterinary care are given to every animal in our program.We always appreciate anything extra you can afford to donate or give, it will not only help the animal you relinquish but all the others as well.
We do not accept animals brought to adoption days unless previous arrangements were made. If an animal is left in our presence while at adoptions and we have not accepted it, it will be considered abandoned and the responsible party will be held accountable in a court of law.
